Structured Data for Local Service Pages

What structured data does, what it does not do, and which schema types help local service pages.

Structured data helps search engines understand the page

Structured data is code that describes what a page is about in a standardized format. It does not guarantee rankings, but it can make pages easier for search engines to understand and sometimes eligible for richer search features.

Google explains structured data in its SEO starter guide.

Useful schema for local service sites

Common types include:

  • LocalBusiness
  • Service
  • FAQPage
  • BreadcrumbList
  • Article or BlogPosting
  • This site uses service schema on service pages, FAQ schema for service FAQs, breadcrumb schema for page hierarchy, and local business schema globally.

    What schema cannot fix

    Schema cannot fix:

  • Thin content
  • Bad service pages
  • No local proof
  • Slow website
  • No reviews
  • Weak Google Business Profile
  • Poor internal linking
  • It supports good content. It does not replace it.

What to put in Service schema

    For a service page, include:

  • Service name
  • Description
  • Provider
  • Area served
  • URL
  • Service type
  • Price range where useful
  • That should match what the visible page says. Do not mark up claims that are not visible or true.

    Bottom line

Structured data is technical clarity. Use it to support real pages with useful content, local context, and strong internal links.
